Did Katrina Kaif throw starry tantrums during for an ad shoot?

Rumours are rife in industry circleas that Katrina Kaif threw a lot of starry tantrums while shooting for the ad shoot of a famous designer luxury brand soon to be launched in India.

If sources are to be believed, Katrina was demanded and was paid a huge fee for the endorsement deal. The sources further reveal, “But if the foreign agents who had sealed the deal with Katrina’s managers must have felt that they sailed through the tough part once she was on board then they seem to had underestimated Katrina’s ‘star’ power. Katrina it is learnt had set a special demands and conditions list for the shoot of the ad campaign even before it began. Apparently, she was going to be flown to Paris for the shoot but Kat wasn’t happy with just that. She seems to have told them that she would shoot only in a certain hotel where she wanted to stay. And that was not all. She also wanted to work with her own staff, stylist, make-up artist, hair dresser et al who would have to be flown to Paris with her. When they protested, Kats threw a tantrum till they relented.”

This particular ad she shot for shall soon be seen on TV.

Actor finalized to play Krishnan Iyer MA in Agneepath remake?

While the hunt by Karan Johar for playing the lead man in his Agneepath remake continues as Hrithik Roshan has reportedly declined to reprise Amitabh Bachchan’s role, the actor to play the second most important character in the film of that of Krishnan Iyer MA which was played by Mithun Chakraborty. In fact Mithun had even won the Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for the 1990 released.

Our source reveals, “Riteish Deshmukh is more or less finalized to play the part made famous by Mithun Chakraborty in the Agneepath remake which Karan Johar intends to produce under his banner. After Hrithik has not shown much keen interest in playing the gangster Vijay Dinanath Chavan in the film, chances are Abhishek Bachchan will step in to play the role which was originally played by his father Amitabh Bachchan. Both Riteish and Abhishek share great chemistry which was evident in Bluffmaster and one just hopes the same magic is recreated.”

The source further adds, “The actresses to play Madhavi and Neelam’s parts are yet to be finalized. Similarly for playing the villain Kancha Cheena originally played by Danny, names of Vivek Oberoi and Irrfan Khan are being considered.”

I Owe My Career to Farah Khan: Deepika Padukone

In just six months Deepika Padukone has signed two double roles in Om Shanti Om and Chandni Chowk To China Town and now she gets to do what very few female actors in our country do.Deepika does full-fledged comedy in Sajid Khan’s Houseful.

“It’s not just s few comic scenes here and there. It’s a hardcore comic role. And I wonder how I’ll manage it. Main koshish karungi. Sajid has a great sense of humour and I’d go by his vision. Sajid just told me to follow him. If my director has so much confidence in me I can’t let him down.”

Problem is, Deepak has a very sober image. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t have a sense of fun. I plan to have a ball doing Houseful. I’m a reserved person in real life. But that doesn’t mean I can’t be funny for the camera.”

So after working with Sister Farah it’s bro Sajid. “I’m very fond of both of them. At a time when the entertainment industry wasn’t too confident of me Farah trusted me completely. She didn’t audition even me. Farah who was the one spotted me a talent and actually cast me opposite Shah Rukh.”

She has worked with all the older actors Shah Rukh, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan before coming to co-stars her own age group.

“Ranbir and I work like pals. But I wouldn’t say I had more fun working with him. You are not on the sets to have fun. But yes, definitely the comfort level with him was much higher even when we weren’t seeing each other. My other co-stars were a lot more mature and I was a lot more reserved with them. But I’ve to tell you, Shah Rukh completely pampered me. Saif is reserved.I’ve heard he wasn’t like this earlier.I believe he has calmed down a lot because of Kareena, or whatever. Saif and I just did our work on Imtiaz Ali’s sets and went our separate ways. That’s the way I like it. I’m a very reserved person. I’m not here to make friends. But yes Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lamba are now friends.”

And another film with Ranbir after Bachna Ae Haseenon? “We get offers every day to act together. But we’re waiting for the right opportunity. The script has to be special. But we’re very clear about not mixing business with our relationship.”

Deepika regrets making their relationship so public. “When we got into a relationship we decided to be open about it. Otherwise there would be reports about us being spotted holding hands, kissing, hugging, etc. Since we were so clear about our relationship we had nothing to hide. I thought people would respect that. But it didn’t work out that way.”

Deepika was especially upset about the paparazzi pictures of her and Ranbir. “We both have families and very repectable families. People who take pictures of us secretly must have families and boyfriends/girlfriends. We’ve now decided not to talk about our friendship. At the end of the day no one is going to see our films because we’re a pair. ”

Tell her there was no upward movement in Ranbir’s graph as an actor from Saawariya to Bachna…. and the protective beloved protests, “His graph was already so high in Saawariya , where could he go? Bachna Ae Haseenon gave him a chance to do something totally different. I too want to get away from the glam sham. Of course I want to wear good clothes and sing good songs. But I’d be uncomfortable doing just songs and dances. Beyond Sajid Khan’s film I haven’t signed any film. Chandni Chowk to Chandni is an out-and-out entertainer. Imtiaz Ali’s films are very real very relevant to today.”

Dev to return home safely

In the last episode of Choti Bahu it was shown that Dev meets with an accident while driving back home. This was one of the twists in the tale of the show where production is planning to catch up with more eyeballs.

Our sources reveal that, “He will return back safely and this all happens because of the bhakti and love of Radhika.”

The show will add another flavour with the marriage proposal of Radhika. “In the coming episodes Radhika’s dad is planning to get her married in a nice family. The reasons behind this issue are the villagers who are taunting the poor girl.”

“Now Radhika will keep one condition to her mother and granny of either tell everything to father or she would say it all to stop the marriage. Though some how her mother convinces the dad and for the time being Radhika is at relief,” adds the source.

On the other side, now the family of Dev is demanding for the waaris. “This is the track where Dev is confused of what to do. He still loves Radhika and is unable to forget her. This track will go for about a month as creative are deciding on what will be next to raise the TRP’s of the show,” concludes the source.

This high family drama will rule the show for a month so viewers get ready for some masale dar action from the team of the show.

Hansal Mehta Replaces Karan Johar in Dev Anand’s Film

Dev Anand’s Charge sheet is now being shot at the outskirts of Mumbai.

And one filmmaker-turned-actor who happily trotted off for the shooting on Monday was Hansal Mehta who plays a filmmaker in Charge sheet.

Hansal could barely contain his excitement as he packed his bags in Pune to leave for his maiden movie.

“I haven’t even asked Dev Saab what my role is. But I believe I play a filmmaker. That’s double excitement for me. I get to play myself. I’ve simcerely followed Dev Saab’s instructions. He’s inspiring. I had a blast. I got what I wanted. I always wanted to work with Navketan and Dev Saab.”

Tell Hansal that the role was offered to Karan Johar first and he turned down the role (without even informing the indefatigable Dev Saab that he wasn’t interested), and spirits refuse to be dampened. “Who in the world says no to Dev Saab? I’d like to believe I was the first and last choice for the role.”

It was just two days’ work for Hansal. But he packed enough clothes and accessories for the entire schedule.

“You never know. Dev Saab might love my performance and increase my role. But seriously I hope I get enough scope in Charge sheet to display my exceptional acting skills,” said the twinkle-eyed Hansal who has directed film like Chhal, Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar and Woodstock Villa.

John Abraham read the holy Quran for New York

Both critics and the audience are full of praise for John Abraham’s superb act as a Muslim character who takes to terrorism in Kabir Khan’s just released New York. But not many are aware of the preparations John underwent for bringing authenticity to his character.

Our unit source reveals, “To play the Muslim character, Kabir Khan made him read the holy Quran thoroughly so that his dialogues, mannerisms and reactions in the film rang true. John too gladly did as he was ordered. He was excited to play the character which was definitely amongst the most difficult parts of his career. And now the result is out there for everyone to see.”

Despite their Kabul Express having not worked at the box office, Kabir Khan wanted to repeat John in his New York and had in fact told producer Aditya Chopra so that he could only think of John to play the main lead. We won’t be surprised now if John bags a few awards for his act in the film.

Kambakht Ishq goes digital

In an era where everyone has access to at least one digital screen: mobile or computer, the makers of ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ and Hungama Digital Media (Hungama) announced the launch of a unique bouquet of digital promotions that gives Bollywood fans across the country, a connect with the film anywhere they go. This to create fervour and excitement about the film through varied avenues like the Kambakkht Ishq mobile game, a mobile Voice VAS service by Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor and a blog written by the film’s director Sabbir Khan on www.BollywoodHungama.com

The Kambakkht Ishq Mobile Game is a fun-filled racing game which allows users to play the role of Akshay Kumar and highlights the bittersweet gender wars between the two protagonists of the movie. The user has to complete various stunts and collect objects in the exciting and fast paced racing game to complete the game. In the mobile voice VAS service, Akshay Kumar reveals a few of his stunt tips for all the young aspiring stunt men; and Kareena Kapoor advices women on beauty tips. All people have to do is pick the phone, dial a number and listen to the stars of Kambakkht Ishq speaking to them.

Sajid Nadiadwala said, “Kambakkht Ishq is an action-packed, romantic comedy that will appeal to everyone. This movie also tickles the ‘war between the sexes’ that the youth will especially connect with. We needed to promote the film through platforms where youngsters are present and today I see every young boy or girl digitally connected, either with a phone to their ear or their eyes on a computer screen. We are Nadiadwala & Grandsons are very keen on exploring innovations in marketing, and Hungama has given us a great platform to create some fun elements of the film.”

Added director of Kambakkht Ishq, Sabbir Khan said, “This film is extremely unique in the way it has been written and directed and keeping in line with that I wanted to promote this film through distinctive platforms. Since this film also stars international celebrities like Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards and Brandon Routh, I thought it would be best to use the digital platforms that give fans in international markets an insight of the film before its release. I am extremely excited about the blog on Bollywood Hungama to keep fans updated with the latest about the film.”

The stars of the film Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor were also present during the launch today. “I have always looked forward to doing an exciting film like Kambakkht Ishq and the film being translated in to a game and a voice service on the mobile platform. Both these are extremely innovative and entertaining. I hope my fans especially enjoy the Stunt Tips, but they must all be very careful while doing them” said Akshay Kumar. Kareena Kapoor added,“I loved sharing my style tips with my fans. I hope all the ladies love the all my style tips”

Each and every film maker wants to give his film immense attention before its release to create a space in the audiences’ minds that does not merely create awareness but instead goes a step further to ensure a ‘buy-in’ to the film by creating a sense of anticipation and excitement. Kambakkht Ishq is a perfect example where digital marketing is used beyond just run of the mill concepts to using the platforms to connect people with the stars and movie concepts.

Kambakht Ishq Review

Movie Review: Kambakkht Ishq; Star cast: Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani, Amrita Arora, Kirron Kher and in Sp. App Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards, Brandon Routh and Holly Valance; Director: Sabbir Khan; Rating: ** - Falls short of expectations.

Viraj (Akshay) is a Hollywood stunt man who doesn’t believe in marriage and lives by the belief that women are good for only two things. When he comes to know that his younger brother Lucky (Aftab) is getting married, he rushes to break it off. At the same time the bride, Kamini’s (Amrita) best friend Simrita (Kareena) too rushes in dissuading her from getting married to a ‘second hand’ person aka a stuntman. But it is too late as the couple has already made up their mind. But not before a war of words ensues between the chauvinist Viraj and snooty Simrita. The reason why Simrita (who by the way is a medical student cum part time model) hates men is the examples she has seen in her own family. She therefore believes men are only interested in taking women into their beds and nothing else. But then fate keeps Viraj and Simrita bumping more into each other and their each meeting only doubling up their hate for each other. Meanwhile, Simrita’s stubbornness leads Lucky and Kamini to the brink of divorce. While Viraj tries to stop this divorce from taking place Simrita tries her best to ensure it takes place. Things get more complicated when during Viraj’s operation, Simrita accidentally leaves her watch inside his stomach. What it all leads to forms the rest of the plot.

Kambakkht Ishq is one of the most lavish productions to come out of Bollywood no doubts about it. But despite involving four scriptwriters the film still falls short of the expectations where the promised wholesome entertainment is concerned. The main problem being the wafer thin plot, then again some really bad jokes that fall flat and finally the second half. Also many a times the thin line of acceptance has been crossed in the name of humour which makes it a difficult watch for the family audience. The first half breezes quickly but the second half slows down considerably. The serious turn taken though comes in with the flow of the film, it gets boring as you know it very well where it is all going to lead to. Though it is applause worthy job by debutante director Sabbir Khan to helm a film as huge, you sorely miss a David Dhawan who would have controlled the lunatic moments more effeciently. To give due credit, ‘Hollywood’ has been well incorporated by Sabbir in the film. Though Taurus awards sequence has been superbly picturised, the makers seem to be under the impression that award winners arrive first on stage followed by announcement of arrival of award presenters at prestigious international awards.

The film scores high in the technical department with cinematographer Vikas Sivaraman coming on tops. He has succeeded in imparting the film an international look. However, barring the Mangalam number the music of the film is not worth a mention.

Akshay Kumar is back in terrific form as a performer. He is simply superb in his award acceptance speech. Kareena has never looked so hot before. She manages to put up her own against Akshay but is saddled by poor characterization, especially in the second half. Almost 80% of the time her character has been burdened with a permanent growl on the face. Amrita Arora is cute as her dim wit friend. Aftab is passable. Kirron Kher is getting irritatingly repetitive. Boman Irani in a single scene appearance is hilarious but Javed Jaffrey grates on your nerves and its high time he realises that his ‘punny’ jokes don’t work every time. Vindoo Dara Singh as the dumb assist of Akshay is mirthful. Amongst the Hollywood stars, Sylvester Stallone commands great screen presence but Denise Richards looks too old but she does enact her part well.

Watching the promos and the huge hype the makers have managed to create about their film, your expectation levels are high when you enter but as you come out you do feel that it is nothing more than a dumb entertainer that tries to take you too much for granted. It may take a great start at the box office but the crowds will vanish from Monday once the hype begins to settles down.

‘Kambakth Ishq’ all set to take a good start at Box Office

Akshay Kumar has reasons to smile. His much hyped ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ has managed to build a good hype amongst the audiences, something which is reflecting from the favourable response that it has received via a healthy advance booking. Though quite a few multiplexes and single screens opened their advance booking only on Wednesday (which is the norm), some major chains (like PVR) opened it early as Sunday to gauge audience’s interest in the film. Thankfully, it was all positive, something which would definitely have contributed to sudden plans for paid previews that were hosted on Thursday.

However, Sajid Nadiadwala and Co. took a guarded approach as instead of going ballistic with paid previews and playing multiple shows all through the evening and night, they kept it low profile with only a show each at select multiplexes in major cities. Moreover, the show timings were also quite late in the night with some of them beginning as late as 11 PM. Obviously, the makers and especially the leading man Akshay Kumar have learnt the lesson from ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ debacle where negative reviews had started flowing as early as 9 PM Thursday night once the first paid preview (at 6PM) had come to a close.

Though sources indicate that the makers of ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ are quite confident of their product, it made sense to have a restricted viewing of the film rather than it being a wholesome affair, lest it led to any negativity. In any case, record number of prints are being circulated across the country which means that opening weekend collections should be quite a bountiful.

There have been murmurs around the promos not being really strong for this Akshay and Kareena starrer. However, one just hopes that the team of ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ is hiding the real stuff in the background rather than revealing it all in the promos itself; a mistake that recent release ‘Paying Guest’ made and suffered badly. It would be better for a film with such a huge scale to let audiences warm up to the film and that’s a path this Sabbir Khan directed film seems to be taking.

As are the indicators right now, the film should fetch good numbers in the opening weekend even if they aren’t record breaking per se. While ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ and ‘Singh Is Kinng’ hold the record of netting 40 crores or more in their first week (with ‘Ghajini’ going through the ceiling with a 60 crores + opening, it would be fair if ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ crosses 35 crores mark at the least. This is where the film seems to be headed as well and even though a few may complain that these collections would be less for an Akshay Kumar biggie, one has to keep in mind that he has suffered two recent flops in ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ and ‘8X10 Tasveer’, something which is looming large on audience’s mind. Moreover, 35 crores is not a bad number too as long as the film can sustain in weeks to come.

With ‘Shortkut - The Con Is On’ being the only major release in week to follow and ‘Jashnn’ arriving on 17th July, ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ now has to be just a decent enough film to keep showing steady collections before ‘Luck’ arrives on 24th July.

Angad Haseja is missing his angel

It was shocker news for all the fans of Alekh (Angad Haseja) of Bidaai when the news of his marriage came out. Well now it’s been learnt that this handsome hunk is a father of a daughter too.

“I have a daughter who is nine months old and her name is Vaishnavi. We call her Angel at home,” stated Angad.

Why did you hide this news of being a father? “I never hid the news; it’s just that nobody has asked me about this. Though in an interview for few magazines I have revealed about my daughter,” he adds.

“I really miss her especially when now she is growing up. But then it’s difficult to get the career also, so one has to sacrifice few things for others. All I can say is that Angel has brought in lot of luck for me and I love her a lot,” he converse.

The actor is planning to shift his base in Mumbai. “I’m planning to buy a flat here so that I can call my family. I want to see my daughter rising in front of my eyes,” he concludes.

There is a saying that ‘A daughter is a gift of love’ but for Angad its luck and love both. Isn’t it?

Archana is a B-girl

Well this seems to be the biggest high point in Balaji’s show Pavitra Rishta where Archana (Ankita) is blamed for being in the business of prostitution. As per the current track, her family members are shattered with the marriage proposal gone in vain.

If the sources are to be believed, “Ekta is planning a big twist in the tale of the show with the truth coming in light that Archana is a prostitute in real.”

Talking about the story line our sources informs, “Creative of the team is still deciding on how to take the track forward. Ekta is taking personal interest on how to develop the track between Manav (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Archana.”

“As far as I know, Manav will accept Archana knowing the fact of what she is. Thus it is called as Pavitra Rishta when Manav says that he just want to see the present and future with Archana. Past doesn’t mean anything to him,” adds the source.

We all know Ekta she can change the plans at last moment too. “So nothing can be predicted as of now. I can just reveal this much for more you need to wait and watch,” concludes the source.

If this is the case with Archana, then it seems Balaji is changing with its new creative idea. Now will this idea go down well with our audience or not is something to be watched?

Big B’s concern for women in sports

Amitabh Bachchan is presently in London shooting for Paa. In his free time he has been exploring London and also managed to experience a few matches of the ongoing Wimbeldon. But then post his viewing experience he has expressed his concern about the disparity between men and women in sports.

”The large silver golden cup for the men… the semi gold silver tray for the ladies. A disparity here as well, apart from the difference that their prize money entails. I believe a women group is working on the equal distribution of the prize money at tournaments. But for those that continuously make themselves vocal on the disparity and make politically correct noises, let them know that this a manifestation of our age old history and tradition. It may not be feasible to adhere to the sentiment that I have expressed. But for those that scream and shout on the imbalance, that propagate equality for political gain, would they ever wish to take up this issue at all.. I would imagine not. Because… politically it may not suit them.” he writes updating his blog.

He further adds, “The charge would be that sport is an elitist occupation, certainly as far as its commercialism is concerned and there really is no space for the genuine deserving potentials.”

Bachchan feels, “Today the Indian Cricket team boasts of several members that have come up from meagre means and from areas in the country that could be specified as small town. Not too many years ago, 90% of the team would be from Bombay now Mumbai. There were facilities and schools for upcoming players. But all that has undergone a sea change. Today 90% of the team is made up of those that belong to small town India. Poor but traditional and a bit conservative. The lure of big money as the IPL’s of the world take shape, is a huge incentive for upcoming stars.”

“One has to wonder then, whether it is the love of the game, or the love of the money behind the love of the game, that attracts. Not an unreasonable argument. So if the money is an attraction for the budding talent, what is wrong in giving equal opportunity to the women of the game and procure incentive for them as well.. And while we are talking equal and incentive, it may be wise to consider at this moment why there is disparity in the reward for their game.” Big B concludes.

Bachchan Sr. has also hinted at taking a poll on this topic.

Bollywoood music industry remembers Michael Jackson

It was a collective setback for the music industry world over when the news broke around Michael Jackson’s untimely death. Musicians and singers from Bollywood were no different as they came together to mourn over the big loss.

Pritam - It’s a sad day in the history of world music. May his soul rest in peace. We have lost a hero but Michael Jackson is immortal. Through his music, his legacy will live forever. Ironically, I am working on a project which needs funk pop music. So at least ten times a day, I keep telling this to my musicians - ‘Let’s make it like MJ’, ‘Let’s do it the way MJ would have done it’ It’s so sad. He was so young. It’s so hard to believe that he is no more.

Sunidhi Chauhan - Michael Jackson’s demise is the biggest loss ever to the music industry.

Shankar Mahadevan - No one can fill the musical void that has been created due to his death. We will miss the ultimate performer, the ultimate pop icon, the ultimate combination of mass entertainment and musical brilliance. God bless his soul.

Ehsaan Noorani - Michael Jackson, please say hello from all of us to Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, Jaco Pastorius, Miles Davis, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Rick Wright and to all those brilliant musicians like yourself who are attending that biggest jam session in the sky !!!!! Rock On

Himesh Reshammiya - He was a true legend, an inspiration to perform like a genuine superstar. May his soul rest in peace.

Vishal Dadlani - I am broken. Goodbye, Michael Jackson. The one thing we never let you be was human. You went from being a God to an alien to a demon, but if we remember you for anything but your music, the failing will be ours. Sorry for all the harassment, thank you for all the music.

Shekhar Ravjiani - There can be only one Michael Jackson. It’s hard to believe that he is no more. I was so looking forward to his show; more so because it was on the same venue where I had performed on ‘Unforgettables’ tour with the Bachchans last year. It would have been a surreal feeling to now be a part of the audience and seeing Michael on the same stage. He has been an inspiration for so many musicians out there and is one of the main reasons why I too became one. He has been a true icon.

Sophie Chaudhary - It’s hard to express this feeling of great loss. An inspiration, a pure genius, a musician par excellence and the greatest entertainer that the world ever saw. I feel privileged to have seen him LIVE four times and heartbroken that I won’t be able to see him again. He has touched everyone through his music and will live on forever in our hearts. Just as his song says - “Never Can Say Goodbye”

Anand Raj Anand - A magician of dance and music is gone. He saw real success, got the price of success and also paid the price for success. It’s unbelievable that the genius is no more.

Mithoon - I remember seeing his clips where thousands of people would be desperate to touch him. Other than his unique music, he will always be remembered for his amazing style of music which he did with Quincy Jones.

Sidharth (of Sidharth-Suhas duo) - May he rest in peace. He lives on in the hearts of the millions.

Pranay M Rijia - 25th June is day the music died.

Shweta Pandit - Apologies to the Legendary Michael for all the harassment caused to him by certain people in his last years. Its a shame; the same people have realized his worth and are now making up for it. He is the Greatest Singer, Performer and Artist that the World witnessed in the last decades. He is a Genius, and lived like one.. “You’re not alone, am here with you, though your far apart, your always in my heart” Saluting MJ.

The DNA After Hrs Food Awards turned out to be a huge success with food, fun and celebrities all cooking up a great mix. While the restaurants received their honours, DNA also gave out some ‘dishy’ honours to celebrities.

The Dishiest Couple Award was taken home by TV stars Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh. “It felt really good as we are known as real couple and not as the characters. We haven’t done any shows together may be this is the plus point in our relationship that we are known as real life couples,” stated Aamir.

“We were together in Nach, where we did not need to play any role but ourselves. We are very happy to receive this award,” he adds further.

When asked if there are chances to see the duo together sharing the screen, the actor replies, “May be next year. Basically things have to fall in place as we both are busy in our commitments with respective shows. Another important factor is that there should be offers which interest us to come jointly all over again. Let’s see what future has stored in for us,” he concludes.

Well this is one duo that can be definitely termed as yummy, as they have all the ingredients to be a perfect couple… Isn’t it?

My style of Fashion: Adah Sharma

One-film-old Adah Sharma has floored the audience with her horror-filled adaayein in film 1920 and now she is back in suspense-filled love story ‘Phirr’. In this film she’s donned four jackets, two pairs of socks, a tie, a boot, a Skirt, a Muffler…She gets candid in an interview and shares her real life fashion fundas.

What is fashion for you?
One should not do excess of make up to hide anything, in fact one should flaunt their flaws gracefully. Style is something you are born with and fashion you can buy. I dress up in lot of colours but it has to be casual and basic.

Are you a trendsetter or trend follower?
When I was in school, we had to compulsorily tie two plaits with ribbons. I use to hate wearing ribbons so I conveniently did not wear them for a week. She excused me many a times but one day she lost her cool and tied my hair with sutli (thin rope). Next day again I went to school wearing those sutlis. As I was a good student other students would copy what ever I did. After that almost everybody wore sutlis to school and that trend followed even after I passed out.

Most comfortable outfit?
Pajamas are very comfortable to wear.

What do you prefer wearing while traveling?
I wear track pants or pajamas. Because jeans is uncomfortable when you have to sit for long.

What do you wear at home?
I wear pajamas or tiny shots.

What are you carrying in your handbag?
I have two books, my cell phone charger and a Lip balm.

What about eye make-up?
I don’t wear kohl or mascara. I have very long eyelashes when I wear mascara I look like blinker dolls.

What would you wear on your dream date?
It depends on where are we going, but I would like to be casual.

Are you Shopaholic?
I am very quick shopper. I am not like I will see five tops and choose one. I shop from anywhere; I do pick stuffs from linking road. Otherwise Mango and Benetton are my favourites.

Embarrassed to get overtly dressed up?
I am a person who generally wears orange shoes and yellow top with a red bag. It is very hard to get me in embarrassing situation.

How do you dress up at last minute?
As my hair is curly when I open the bun it takes very nice shape so I leave my hair as it is. Heels are not as cool as sneaker and flats but I don’t mind wearing them if they are nice. I prefer short dresses for outing.

What according to you looks more sensuous, Bikini or Wet sari?
Sari is always sensuous whether it is wet or dry. We Indians look best in it. I must confess I don’t yet have guts to carry bikini.

Who according to you is the best dressed actor in Bollywood?
Rekha and Sushmita Sen are two actresses who look good in whatever they wear. John Abraham is also cool; it doesn’t look like as if he has put in efforts to dress up for the occasion.

Aishwarya Rai gets Karate training

Rajnikant’s mega budget next Endhiran starring him along side Aishwarya Rai seems to have garnered a lot of curiosity as the makers are keeping the production a close guarded secret. But the audience interest about it seems to be multiplying day by day as inside details are being leaked out. We managed to find out one such inside info about Aishwarya Rai’s character in the film.

Our sources reveal, “After having learnt sword fights for her English movie The Last Legion, Aishwarya has been training herself in Karate for Endhiran. A noted stunt master Ramesh who has been running a Japan Shito-Ryu karate school in the South for over 30 years, which is affiliated to the World Karate Federation is training the actress for the movie. Ramesh is teaching Aishwarya the basics of Karate for now. In the movie Aishwarya Rai and the other girls in the film will be learning Karate from her hero. Rajnikant is already trained in Karate so he will not have to train himself. Some interesting scenes were shot recently in the VIT University in Chennai.”

Aishwarya Rai has always been a quick learner. Even during the making of the The Last Legion Aishwary Rai had trained herself in the sword fight. She took her skills forward in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Jodhaa Akbar. Her trainers have always been enamoured by her quick learning skills. Apparently Ramesh was also charmed that the actress was able to repeat the karate movements easily.

Ramesh has also acted in Mani Rathnam’s Iruvar (1997) which was Aishwarya Rai’s first ever film. He has also acted in over 400 movies made in South India since 1986 with almost all the leading heroes of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages.

Aishwarya Rai’s Tamil Stumps Rajnikant

Aishwarya Rai has many hidden talents. One is her ability to grasp languages quickly.

This, the unit of Shankar’s Robot discovered while shooting with Aishwarya. She was required to hold her own against the glib-talking super-talking Rajni Sir.

“And since Tamil isn’t really familiar territory for Aishwarya everyone including Rajni Sir and director Shankar was ready for several re-takes as she got used to the dialogue.”

To everyone’s surprise Aishwarya got a grip of the language in no time at all.

“And she was soon rattling off the dialogues and getting hanged of the emotions with equal skill in both the Hindi and Tamil takes. So much so that Rajni Sir who has waited for decades to work with Aishwarya was taken aback.”

When asked about the above incident Aishwarya laughs, “Regional languages have never been a problem. I did a Bengali film Chokher Bali and I was able to get a hang of the complex intonations, though later they needed a particular sing-song tone and my voice had to be dubbed.”

But the buzz in Robot is that they are planning to retain her Tamil lines in the final print.

Says the actress from Ooty, “I’m not at familiar with Tamil. My mother tongue Tulu is very different from Tamil. But you must remember my first film River was in Tamil and I had to say lengthy lines in that film. From my beginnings with Mani Ratnam in Tamil to this my second Tamil film of my career….it’s been quite a journey.”

At the moment she’s shooting in the freezing cold in Oooty for Mani Ratnam with Abhishek. “We shifted from the jungles of Kerala to Ooty by car so I couldn’t accompany Abhishek. I’ve finished this schedule and go back to Shankar and Robot. Really gruelling.”

Ajay Devgan gifts a Black Berry to Bipasha

If you have a problem getting through to Bipasha Basu it’s not a network problem. It’s her new phone, a swanky Blackberry gifted by her producer and co-star Ajay Devgan this week as a wrap-up gift for his leading lady.

And though Bipasha has lost all her numbers and she can’t identify any caller she just can’t get enough of her new phone.

“I love it! I’m going totally crazy with it. Though I’ve no numbers on it and am trying to figure it out, I just can’t get enough of it,” says the actress who finished shooting for Ajay Devgan’s comedy All The Best in Goa this week.

Devgan gifted the phone to Bipasha out of the blue (or shall we say, black?) on the last day of shooting for working round the clock including late nights and early mornings. In fact Bipasha kept off the phone to the extent of not even connecting with her boyfriend John Abraham who was limping around on crutches in Mumbai trying to promote his new film.

Apparently Bipasha also agreed to do an additional role in All The Best without charging a single penny extra.

Devgan known to be a generous prouducer had heard Bipasha mention she wanted a Blackberry.

Says the actress, “Yeah, Ajay knew I wanted it. In fact it was he who got me interested in. It is actually a gift in appreciation for working long hours and changing at lightning speed between shots when we had loads of work to finish. Ajay is a fabulous co-star,producer and co-star.”

Bipasha soon leaves for Hyderabad to shoot the songs for All The Best. On Saturday she also watched her boyfriend’s new film New York finally.

“I’m so proud of him,”she whispered

Akshay Kumar to jump from 10th Floor

Trust Akshay Kumar to put a kahani mein twist even in a routine happening like a press meet.

On Thursday evening in Delhi to promote Kambakkht Ishq Akshay decided to conduct a press conference in a unique way.

He opted to join the melee of press persons at the City walk mall by jumping down from the 10th floor.

Laughs Akshay, “I think everyone was bored with just the routine questions and answers. So I decided to make the get-together exciting for both the parties at the press meet and for the onlookers.”

Wasn’t it dangerous to jump down from such a high altitude? “All precautions were taken. Besides what’s life without taking risks?” quips Akshay.

I am quite fascinated by women: Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar is playing a MCP in his forthcoming release ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ who believes that he would never ever get hitched with just one woman for his entire life. However, his character falls in love, and how! Ending up exclaiming ‘Hai Yeh Kambakkth Ishq’, he goes on to proclaim that while men are from Mars, women are not from Venus, but in fact Heaven. Getting ready for his return to India so as to be in time for the film’s premier, Akshay Kumar chats with Joginder Tuteja over phone from USA where he had gone with his family for a holiday.

Akshay Kumar and a MCP. Now how believable is that?
Truly speaking, I don’t identify with my character in ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ at all. In the film, Viraj Shergill is a MCP while I am definitely not. Viraj thinks that he is someone who is God’s gift to women folk; woh apne aap ko bhagwaan ki den samajhta hai. On the other hand my saying is that if men are from Mars then women are from Heaven.

You seem to be quite fascinated by women.
Very much. In fact I personally feel that women have more guts than men. This is the reason why I agreed to host ‘Fear Factor’ as well. This is where all these women compete in situations that are more about guts than being physically powerful. Otherwise there are so many programs on TV for which I get offers to host them but then I agreed only for ‘Fear Factor’.

Coming back to ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ and the MCPs; have you come across any such men yourself?
Yes, I have. I know of so many people out there who have been born MCPs. These are the kind of men who are afraid of the word ‘marriage’ itself. They just don’t want to commit myself to one woman; the kind of trait that Viraj, my character in ‘Kambakkth Ishq’, possesses. These men are afraid of ‘pyaar’, ‘ishq’ aur ‘moahabbat’. My answer to them has always been that ‘Bachchu, jab pyaar mein padoge tab baat karenge’ (we will talk when you actually fall in love)!

And did you witness something like that happening with them?
Yes, and it has been quite funny. Such people who run away from love are most likely to get hitched in a big way. This is when they end up saying that ‘Hai, is kambakkth ishq ne jaan nikal di’!

But isn’t a title like ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ a little negative?
How can you say that? I don’t see it is as negative at all. In fact it’s a very lovely expression of love because those very people who were cursing love all this while can’t have enough of it once deeply in love. Chahe kitna hi bada MCP hi kyo na ho, agar ek baar pyaar mein gir gaya to bas gir gaya (Howsoever big a MCP he may be, once in love, he only falls down deeper and deeper)!

And how deep is the love between Akshay and Kareena in the film?
Well, as I would love to state, I and Kareena are like the Bollywood version of Mr. and Mrs Smith in ‘Kambakkth Ishq’. The way they share a love hate relationship is very engaging and relatable.

Is the film based on Mr. and Mrs. Smith as well?
No ways. That film had a lot of ‘goli-baari’, ‘maar-dhaad’ etc. Here, this couple has fights just like any other male and a female who are constantly at loggerheads with each other and keep encountering each other at numerous junctures. Believe me, after ‘Kambakkth Ishq’, Akshay and Kareena will be known as the new Mr. and Mrs Smith!

Talking of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, with Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards being a part of a Bollywood film, isn’t it getting a little too gimmicky?
That’s not the case really because these actors are a part of the film’s storyline. Yes, there was some amount of gimmicky, if you may say so, in ‘Singh Is Kinng’, where we roped in Snoop Dogg for a promotional track. As such he didn’t have anything to do with the film’s plot but he was still there. And if you look at it, then in true terms even Snoop Dogg came in because his rap number was an integral part of the film’s soundtrack and had become a chartbuster by the release of the film. So it was imperative that we shoot a music video with him for the end credit roll.

Other than Hollywood, from Bollywood too we have Aftab Shivdasani as another male lead in the film. How does he fit into the scheme of things?
Yes, Aftab has his own parallel track in the film and he has performed very well. I have worked with him earlier in ‘Awara Paagal Deewana’ and it was nice to reunite with him. He also plays a stuntman in the film; albeit a junior stuntman. In the film his character thinks that I hate him.

I just love monsoons: Amruta Khanvilkar

Q. Do you like rainy season?
A. I just love monsoons.
Q. What’s the one thing you love the most about monsoon?
A. Rain cleans our nature and motherland making it very beautiful. I also like to hear my mom scolding at me whenever I get wet in rains. I have heard a lot of mom’s scolding during my college days.

Q. What’s the one thing you hate about this season? A. We all are aware of the consequences associated with heavy rainfall. But I think we all are responsible for this. Whenever Mother Nature harms us we all blame her but when we harm Mother Nature then nobody says anything.

Q. What do you miss the most watching the heavenly shower?
A. Maybe nothing. I just pray to God that monsoon always show it’s beautiful side rather then disastrous one.

Q. How do you like to spend your day when it’s raining heavily?
A. Normally, I prefer to stay back at my home during heavy rains and take a nap. I also like to watch a good movie lying on a warm cot.

Q. Rain has always been associated with romance. What’s your opinion on the same?
A. I too believe in it. One can only relate monsoon with romance and not summer season since during summers it even becomes difficult to handle yourself. Even Bollywood has picturized lot of songs under rain to showcase romance between the lead pairs.

Q. Which is your favorite song picturized on rain?
A. I love listening to Main idhar, main udhar chala…from Koi Mil Gaya. It’s a very cute song.

Q. What do you generally dress up while moving out on a rainy day?
A. I only wear those dresses which are above my knees. I am happy that I stay in Mumbai where one gets the freedom to wear what he or she likes.

Q. Which dish do you cherish eating?
A. If it’s raining heavily then I like to eat anything that’s hot. Especially I like to have soup and paneer pakoda.

Q. Any special memory relating to this season?
A. I still remember 26th July. Once I finished my shoot on that day and came out on the road I realized that it was raining heavily. Viewing the rains, I felt like having a shower in it but the next day when I learnt about the disaster, I felt very bad.
