Balika Vadhu has proved it self by being in the top position of the TRP’s charts. With its twist in the tale, the show has managed to glue the audience on their TV sets. Well another twist follows with the love track between Sughna (Vibha) and Shyam (Vikrant).

As per the sources, “Taisa (Neha) of Sughna helps her and Shyam to come closer. Ghena assist the secret meetings of the two as she wants Sughna to settle down with her life after the death of Pratap.”

In the coming episodes another track between Ghena and her hubby Vasant will be the highlight. “Vasant is feeling jealous as Ghena takes good care of her guruji who preaches her singing. Though he doesn’t realise that this will bring Ghena and him much closer to each other,” adds the source.

The rapport of Sughna and Shyam will not be accepted by Dadisa. “The day she comes to know of what all three is doing behind her back, she will not spare them,” concludes the source.

So keep glued to your screen with the high emotional drama.

Zor Lagaa Ke…Haiya! Movie Review

Movie Review: Zor Lagaa Ke…Haiya; Star Cast: Mithun Chakraborthy, Mahesh Manjrekar, Riya Sen, Gulshan Grover, Seema Biswas, Ashwin Chitale, Ayesha Kaduskar, Meghan Jadhav, Ritwik Tyagi and Hardik Thakkar; Director: Girish Girija Joshi; Rating: *** 1/2 - Best children’s film in recent years.

Four kids staying in the same building – Laddu (Hardik), Priya (Ayesha), Ritesh (Ritwik) and Karan (Meghan) feel threatened by a beggar staying near their building. They nickname him Ravan for his scary appearance. Forever intrigued by the bag he always carry with him, the four friends devise various plans to steal it and find out what is inside it but all their plans fail as Ravan (Mithun) outsmarts them every time. Finally they decide upon building a small tree house in their building compound so that through it they can keep a watch on Ravan who stays on the road across their building. Ram (Ashwin) who works as a labourer on the upcoming new constructions in their complex, comes to their aid and helps them build this tree house. But after many more attempts on stealing Ravan’s bags, the five kids end up being friends with Ravan and their tree house starts becoming the night abode for him. But, danger comes in form of ruthless builder Bakshi (Gulshan Grover) who decides to raze the tree for making way for a new gate in front of it for his commercial purposes. He takes aid of Gupta (Mahesh Manjrekar) his contractor on the site. How the five kids with the help of the homeless Ravan give a fight to Gupta and his cronies to save their tree forms the rest of the film.

While there was always a risk of sounding preachy when films carry a strong message, debutante director Girish has successfully managed to avoid that by subtly yet strongly incorporating his message through a neatly woven screenplay. The best thing about Zor Lagaa Ke is that the children in the film behave their age unlike typical filmy kids and their behaviour in this film is definitely relatable. Girish and his writer’s team have come up with some really good emotional moments especially in the second half. The lighter moments, such as the Superheroes, Mahabharat and Sarkar take offs have been imaginatively woven. The various tricks employed by Ravan and the five kids to shove away Bakshi and Gupta from cutting their tree house are simply hilarious. But the big twist in the climax is the master stroke. Bapi Tutul’s music is melodious with some real good lyrics by Amitabh Verma with the pick of the lot being Sapnon Ka… number. Most importantly none of the songs hamper the pace of the film.

The film deserves full marks in the acting department. Each single kid has leaves you very impressed with his/her endearing act. While Ashwin Chitale the child star of India’s Oscar entry Shwaas is simply superb in emotional moments, the burly Hardik and also Meghan, Ayesha and Ritwik enact their parts naturally. Mahesh Manjrekar is the most entertaining amongst the adults. The constant bearing he has maintained of his mannerisms is howlarious. Seema Biswas is remarkable as usual. Gulshan Grover is menacingly good. Riya Sen manages a cute cameo. But it is Mithun who towers over the film with his absolutely brilliant acting. This old war horse has proved yet again that if you give him a good role and a nice script and he will show you why he is such a multi National Award winning actor.

Zor Lagaa Ke…Haiya is a film for you and your children and of course the child in you, so just don’t miss it. Very rarely sensitive yet entertaining children’s films are made in India. It is a fine effort by debutante director Girish Girija Joshi and deserves a huge applause.

Sonakshi Finally Says Yes To Salman’s Film

Will she, won’t she? Shatrughan and Punam Sinha’s daughter Sonakshi was offered a role by Salman in a film to be produced by Arbaaz Khan.

But Sonakshi, apparently in two minds about a film career, decided not to do it. She had studied fashion designing and that’s what she wanted to pursue as a career.

The girl hadn’t bargained for Salman’s persuasive powers. Apparently he kept asking Sonakshi and her parents (who are very fond of Salman) until they finally relented.

And now Sonakshi has finally said yes to the untitled film which begins shooting in a couple of months.

Says a source very close to the project, “Salman saw Sonakshi at the Fashion Week and told her to lose 10 kgs. Sonakshi decided to lose 30 kgs. And not by starving herself. She maintained a balanced diet, went to the gym regularly and embarked into water sports. Within no time she was stunningly slim.”

That’s when Salman got doubly persuasive and that’s when Sonakshi relented.

The film will be directed for Arbaaz Khan Productions by Anurag’s brother Abhinav Kashyap. This would be Arbaaz’s first production.

Apparently the director went to Arbaaz to sign him an as an actor. Arbaaz offered to produce it.

Says the proud father Shatrughan Sinha, “Acting was never on the cards for Sonakshi. But I remember as a child she was very cute and I had promised she would do an ad. This is perhaps a fulfillment of that promise. As long as she doesn’t compromise the dignity of our family I’ve no objections to her doing films.”

Lip lock with Saif no big deal for Deepika Padukone

There has been a huge buzz in the film industry and media circles about Deepika Padukone’s lip lock with her Love Aaj Kal co-star Saif Ali Khan in their film. When we caught up with the Om Shanti Om girl at the media meet of Love Aaj Kal and removed the topic about the same, Deepika appeared pretty cool about the whole thing.

She told us, “I think it was necessary in the film. I believed in the role and keeping that in mind I have been able to perform the role well. We have all moved ahead for how long are we going to show flowers or birds tweeting during a kissing scene.”
When asked whether her beau Ranbir Kapoor had seen the film and approved of it, Deepika said, “I have always believed in keeping my personal and professional life apart. We both know our professional demands and we don’t interfere in it. For me I am happy to have him in my life. He is my best friend.”

Neil clears the air on his nude scene controversy

Much is being talked about Neil Nitin Mukesh’s nude scene in his upcoming next, Jail directed by multiple National Award winning director, Madhur Bhandarkar. The photos of this nude scene are already making the rounds on the net and in the print medium. With apparently the censor board to showing its apprehension about the nude scene inclusion in Jail’s first promo, the whole thing seems to be a new controversy in the making.

However, an unfazed Neil Nitin Mukesh states in this regard, “Jail is being made by Madhur Bhandarkar, so controversies are bound to be there. I think controversies fuel people’s interest in the film. The film is going to be showcased at IIFA this year and I feel publicity is important for every film, to make people aware of what it is about and persuade them to watch it. As far as the nude scene is concerned, it is not a publicity gimmick. I don’t even know how the picture got out so soon. What we have depicted in the film is a procedure that actually happens; we haven’t exaggerated anything. For the first time, through frisking, men will know what it feels to be raped. It is a very intense, important moment in the film.”

Akshay enjoys stunts more than romance or comedy?

Akshay Kumar’s last two years show a super impressive report card of many back to back hits. But a closer look again suggests most of these films have been either romantic films or comedies or romantic comedies. But ask this once full on action star what he enjoys doing the most romance or comedy or stunts and you will be surprised to hear the answer.

When we posed the question to the Khiladi Kumar during a recent media event, his reply was, “I enjoy stunts. It’s not difficult but it is scary. I realized it all the more when I did Blue. I fought with forty Sharks. I had gone down 40 feet down into the deep sea with no one besides me. There were around 40 sharks besides me and it was scary. There was one incident when I hit myself on the rod of a sunken ship and blood started oozing out of my head. The sharks smell blood very fast and they started nearing me. The unit guys took dead meat 20 feet away so as to distract them and another stunt director safely took me back into the ship in a matter of 20 minutes. That was really scary once I was aboard I realized the seriousness of the situation all the more.”

Vashu Bhagnani refuses to let SRK share publicity with son Jacky

Producer Vashu Bhagnani’s war with his director Vivek Sharma just got murkier.

One of Vivek Sharma’s demands on his producer is to let Shah Rukh Khan share the publicity hoardings with debutant Jackky Bhagnani.

But Vashu protests, “Vivek had worked with Shah Rukh in Bhootnath. He came and told me he wanted to bring Shah Rukh into a cameo in Kal Kisne Dekha and now he wants it publicized. How can I single out Shah Rukh for prominence when there’re other big stars making guest appearances in Kal Kisne Dekha? My motive is to make a movie for and promote my son. The big stars like Shah Rukh are in the film to bless Jackky. I don’t want people to be conned into believing Shah Rukh has a big role. I don’t come from a place where stars are exploited by producers in brief roles, sorry. Look at Rishi Kapoor. He returned a part of the payment when he knew I was facing a financial crunch. I’m obliged to this man. Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor…they are humanbeings. We all are going through recession and this is the time we need to come together to save the industry, not try to gain cheap publicity by hurling accusations.”

Disgusted and shocked by Vivek’s behaviour Vashu says, “I heard he had a problem with Mehak Chahal in South Africa to the extent that she left my son’s film in disgust. She sent me more than twenty messages describing what he allegedly did. But I didn’t pay attention.I am a decent man so I refused to believe these stories. But going by Vivek’s recent behaviour I’m persuaded to believe Mehak.”

The harassed producer, just back from London is shocked and demoralized to hear the director’s apparent allegations of payment default and even slapping.

“How can I slap him from London? Vivek’s PRO made up the story. I’ve never slapped anyone. He says he’ll expose me. What have I done to him? Have I cheated or raped him? He says he’ll teach me a lesson. What will he do? Slap me? He’s a powerful man. He has worked with Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.”

The minute Vashu landed in Mumbai on Tuesday he called Vivek Sharma’s lawyer over and sorted it out. “He has slapped a legal notice on me for nothing. He was supposed to get the full and final payment on the day of the film’s release on June 12. I can show me a copy of the legal agreement. I’ve now cleared his dues fully. I’ve more important things to think about. My entire family has been visiting temples keeping fasts and mannats for my son. I’ve spent Rs 34 crores over my son’s film. Who would give this kind of film to a relatively new director to direct? As father I am grateful to Vivek Sharma for taking on a film with a newcomer after directing Mr Amitabh Bachchan (in Bhootnath). But as a Producer I can’t take his rude behaviour. He’s been going around telling people, ‘Who’s Jackky Bhangani’ Jackky is my son. And he has done a good job. I maintain Vivek is a good technician. But his ego is larger than his talent.”

Vashu is still incredulous, “Vivek wanted to put a stay order on my son’s film for money. For a small sum of money? I’ve emptied my coffers to make Kal Kisne Dekha. I’ve only one son. He has worked hard. From a fat 130 kg kid he became a 70 kg lad. Anyway I’ve cleared all of Vivek’s dues. And I wish him all the best.”

Don 2 Story Line, Star Cast, Shooting Dates, Shooting Location

Farhan Akhtar says Shah Rukh Khan will be performing daring stunts in Don 2.

"He's always game for the audacious. But the health problems really frustrate him," says the director referring to the SRK's shoulder surgery this year.

But now SRK is all set to bounce back with a full-on actioner in Don 2.

And there's Priyanka Chopra for company again.

Bipasha Basu who has been eased out of Race 2 firmly believes leading ladies don't have a future in sequels.

But here's one to prove her wrong .Though Priyanka has apparently been left out of Dostana 2 she's very much a part of Don 2 which starts shooting, finally, in May 2010 in Ireland and Berlin.

In fact Don 2 will be the first Indian film to be shot In Dublin.

Says the producer Ritesh Sidhwani, "We're very much going ahead with the original cast Shah Rukh, Priyanka, Boman Irani, Arjun Rampal and Om Puri.Only those who died in the original won't return, obviously."

Also, for obvious reasons, this time there won't be a double role for Shah Rukh. What he will be be doing is, some of the most heart-in-the-mouth stunts ever done by any leading man and certainly SRK's most audacious actioner yet.

For this Shah Rukh needs to recover from this year's back surgery.

Says a source, "This is why he allotted dates in 2009 to Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan. It requires very little physical exertion whereas Don 2 is a kick-ass role."

When the proposal to do the sequel first came up Shah Rukh was very sure it would have to go beyond the first part in terms of locales, action and drama.

Says producer Ritesh Sidhwani, "We're shooting Don 2 in Dublin .No Indian film has been shot there. We want to make sure that the sequel goes ahead of the first film. While the first part was a remake the sequel is an original script and would be much tougher to film for Shah Rukh and Farhan."

Akshay Kumar Comes Back With His new Theory on sex

Bollywood is back with a bang is what Akshay has said in his blog on facebook. He had been enjoying all these while from his mother-in-law surprise birthday bash to the end of the strike of multiplexes strike. Now Akki is all set for the battle of sexes on screen with his up coming movie Kambakht Ishq.

The film explores the relationship between two individuals as different from each other. No matter how many times they are pushed together, there are only like poles apart. “It’s been the longest war since man kind. Who’s the better sex? Men or Women? Well let me tell you now, I may be releasing a movie where I am playing a typical male chauvinistic pig, who only thinks of “one thing”, and doesn’t care a damn about women’s feelings at all,” he stated in the blog.

Though he clarified that in real life it’s totally opposite to what he is in the film. Let’s see what he thinks about the women. “Women more loyal but God blessed them with the power of giving birth, and I respect his decision, coz I know for sure no man could ever go through what women go through. And after them putting us wonderful men here on this planet we dare to take their freedom of speech or belittle their gender,” is what he explains.

Equalizing the battle Akki chirped that, “Lets face it both sexes are equally annoying and equally right in the own way, that’s why we do eventually get married. So for those of you who aren’t Gay then you all know deep down you can’t live life without the woman that you love, be it your wife or your mother, even if they do make you do the dishes!” he concludes in his blog.

Well Akki in real seems to have lost the battle to his dear and better half Tina. Now we can say he is a true gentleman who can respect the opposite sex!

A word with Imtiyaz Ali

IMTIAZ ALI says that as a filmmaker he did not cast Kareena Kapoor after Jab We Met in Love Aaj Kal though Saif Ali Khan has produced the film because he did not want to spoil his film by casting the wrong actress even though he is Kareena’s favorite director

Is Love Aaj Kal your favorite or Jab We Met?
It is quite difficult to say as a film maker which film of yours you like better. I cannot say whether I like Love Aaj Kal better than Jab We Met, because you become very subjective when you set out to make a film and you just cannot be a critic. Al that I can say is that I try to make a film as well as I can.

How was Saif as a producer?
For me, Saif was not a producer but just an actor in my film. Though he was just an actor on the sets when the film was being made, he came in with his intelligence, common sense and creative ideas during the post production and publicity of the film.

What is the reason that your films tend to be realistic though they are commercial by nature?
The reason you will be able to soak in reality in my films is that I had grown up in a very middle class family and have spent my growing years in smaller cities, because my dad was in a transferable job. I came from Delhi to Mumbai. Movies that I make will always reflect what I have gone through in my life

Kareena is upset that though you are her favorite director, you have cast Deepika in Love Aaj Kal and not her!
I am happy to hear that Kareena Kapoor thinks very highly of me. She is my favorite actress too. The reason I did not cast her in Love Aaj Kal because I am of the opinion that just for the sake of working with your favorite actress, you should not make a mistake and spoil the film, if you feel as the director that an actress does not suit a particular role.

Do you feel Deepika suits her role in Love Aaj Kal better than Kareena?
Like Kareena suited the role of Geet in Jab We Met, I feel Deepika Padukone suits the role of Meera in Love Aaj Kal to the T.

What do you like the best about Deepika?
Deepika has a sense of silent perception, a certain quality and nature which suits the character of Meera that she is playing in Love Aaj Kal.

You seem to prefer to make every film of yours on love. Why?
Love is something that I do not understand at all, though it is ironical that all the three films that I have made till date-Socha Na Tha, Jab We Met and now Love Aaj Kal deal with love. Love can mean different things to the same person at different times. I feel that love is a very overbearing word.

How can you make films on love when you confess that you do not understand love at all?
So what if I set out to make films on love though I do not understand love at all? People who write about God do not know anything about God because they have not seen god. Similarly I set out to make films on love.

Will every film that you make be a love story?
All said and done, I would say that I will make a film on a story which I like best at a particular time. I will not waste time thinking whether the story that I like is a love story or not. It is immaterial for me as a film maker. I will however direct only one film at a time.

What is Love Aaj Kal about?
In every household the older generation always tend to tell the youngsters that hamare zamane mein aisa nahi karthe the. The earlier generation thinks that the younger generation only indulges in sex whereas the younger generation finds the older generation very boring and extremely ridiculous. The old people tell the youth that love is not a mathematical puzzle that you can set out to solve in a jiffy.

Is that the message that you set out drive home through Love Aaj Kal?
The message that I strive to drive home through Love Aaj Kal is that if you feel there is no innocence in love now like it used to be in the 70’s, it is wrong. Just because physically the youngsters these days tend to be very intimate, it does not mean that there is no innocence in their love. However let me make it very clear that I am not judgmental about love in the film.

How tough was it to cast Neetu Singh in your film?
It was not at all tough to get Neetu Singhji on board in my film. I told her that I was a huge fan of hers and Rishiji also put in a good word about me to her and she agreed to stage her come back as an actress after a long period of time in my film.

Has it been a conscious decision of your not to repeat your stars?
It is a fact that I have not repeated my star pairs in every film that I have made till date. If I had Abhay Deol and Ayesha in Socha Na Tha, I had Shaheed and Kareena in Jab We Met and in Love Aaj Kal I have Saif and Deepika Padukone. It has not been a conscious decision on my part, because I always as a filmmaker go with actors who suit the characters that the script demands in my films.

Would you set out to make a film with new comers too?
Each film has its own niche budget. Just as you get right actors to play the right characters, you should also be realistic enough to take stars to recover your budget. The day I feel that I am in a position to make a big budget film with new faces, I will definitely go ahead and do a film with new faces.

Are you scared or nervous now that Love Aaj Kal is being readied for release??
I am not scared at all. There is no time to get nervous when you are busy with your work. Some work is always there, because once the film is completed, you are busy with the post production and then the release plans. I feel that nervousness is a luxury a director just cannot afford to have. All that I can say is that if I do not embarrass myself when my film is released, I will be glad.

Kal Kisne Dekha :movie review

Kal Kissne Dekha: Waste of time and money

Rating: 2 out of 5*

Starring: Introducing Jackky Bhagnani and Vaishali Desai, Rishi Kapoor, Rahul Dev, Archana Puran Singh, Rachana Shah and Satish Shah

Director: Vivek Sharma

Nihal Singh (Jackky) from Chandigarh comes to Mumbai for higher studies. His college is the typical filmy college where he encounters seniors (Akshay Kapoor and company) who rag him. But then there is also the pretty Meesha (Vaishali) who steals his heart the moment he sees her. But she is a rich snooty gal who looks down upon Nihal and forever finds reasons to insult him. But he wins her over by saving her in the nick of the time from a bomb blast. This situation also brings forth to the world his special gift that he can see future. His doting Physics professor Verma (Rishi Kapoor) however has other sinister plans and takes advantage of Nihal’s innocence for planning out serial blasts in Mumbai. He is also aided by Marshal (Rahul Dev) in hideous act. How Nihal turns the tables on the villains forms the rest of plot.

Once you come out of the cinema hall the first question that comes to your mind is what were the makers thinking? That the audience has a brain of a 13 year old and can be easily taken for a royal ride? You constantly keep getting feeling of déjà vu so many times that you lose count. The stuff such as - the typical small town boy with a heart of gold going to big city, getting ragged by seniors, falling in love with a rich and snooty girl, heroine abducted by villains, hero fighting everyone single handedly has been witnessed countless times. Agreed the makers have added the premonition bit for the hero’s characters but due to lack of imagination on part of the writers, even that part has been not explored properly. New Zealand and South Africa are passed off as Mumbai, hero from ground floor parking lot drives his car to 15 floor of a building and jumps along with it directly on a yacht some miles away and escaping unhurt. What was he Superman? Also what is the motivation behind Rahul Dev and company for carrying out blasts? They appear more as filmy terrorists shown staying in deserted factories. Also, so much noise was made about Slumdog Millionaire child stars Rubina Ali and Azhar are in the film but they are barely there for 2 seconds and there faces too aren’t shown properly. Sanjay Dutt’s appearance is to be seen to disbelieve. Akshay Kapoor suddenly disappears from the scene for no reason. Vivek Sharma had earlier messed a film starring Bollywood’s two living legends Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan and he has now messed up the debut of two promising newcomers. He is technically good but lacks imagination. Sajid – Wajid’s music is a mix of good peppy numbers and melody and the back ground score is effective. However, just when the pace picks up during pre-climax, a sad song is incorporated.

Jackky makes a confident debut and with the right script and direction can go places. Also, debuting along with him, Vaishali Desai not only has amazing screen presence but also good acting skills. She has also carried some glamorous clothes with panache. Rishi Kapoor carries out his diabolic professor act with effortless ease. Though Rahul Dev puts up a convincing act as the villain, he appears as if he is playing the same character that he did in Aa Dekhen Zara. Archana Puran Singh as Jackky’s mom is loveable. Akshay Kapoor is good. Rachana Shah as Rahul Dev’s aide doesn’t impress whereas Satish Shah playing heroine’s dad, for no reason appears grumpy throughout the movie. Ritesh Deshmukh is hilarious in a cameo and so is his sidekick played by music director Wajid.

Kal Kissne Dekha is simply not worth your hard earned money and time. The two stars we have given are just for the honest acting efforts by the lead pair and Rishi Kapoor.

Nandana Sen Falls In love
