Salman Khan’s closeness with Asin, helps her settle

There’s a bit of worry for gorgeous Katrina as the rumours doing the rounds is that Asin and Salman Khan’s off-screen chemistry is really working very well. It’s been said that Asin’s room is full of Sallu’s poster so that she can see his face, the first thing in the morning.

Not only this, recently a Mumbai based tabloid reported that Salman has gifted a flat to Asin in Mumbai suburbs, Lokhandwala, so that Asin could have a permanent residence in the city of Bollywood. The duo is working in London Dreams and it seems that their closeness would surely be bringing horrible dreams to Kat baby. But again Sallu Mia is known for his generosity so it can be that it is his yet another generous gesture towards the southern star.

I am much more romantic then Riddhima in real life: Sukriti Khandpal

Star One’s medical drama DILL MILL GAYE, seems to have an annual problem where the lead girl walks out. Last year Shilpa Anand quit to be replaced by Sukriti Khandpal. Now a year later even Sukriti wants out, claiming the need to move on.

However the buzz is that she felt that the show was past its prime and that her character also was not getting its due. When asked about the same Sukriti said, “while I agree that Riddhima was not getting much to do, as far as if the show is not rocking enough, I will leave that judgement to the audiences.” She also defended herself against allegations that her chemistry with Karan Singh Grower was not as strong as with Shilpa. “I come with a different set of values and hence cannot do physical romantic scenes as Shilpa could and may be that is why certain sections of the audience were unhappy. Having said that I have got lots of name and fame due to DMG.”

She also agreed that repeated changes of lead will leave the viewer confused. “But I am happy for now the shoe is on the other foot, this time, the new girl will have to field questions of fitting in like I had to last year.”

As for the future, she would not mind doing another daily show, “I love to work non stop with one team. Besides TV, I am in talks for films, as well. Let’s see what happens.” she says.

In closing, Sukriti says, “I want the public to know that Sukriti and Riddhima are poles apart. While my DMG character wears suits, I will never be seen in them and more importantly I am much more romantic than she can ever be.” So does that means you have a guy?” Yes I do but I would like to keep my personal life out of media please”.

Hiten tejwani became the heartthrob after playing Pratham in the serial called Kutumb on sony entertainment television. Now the actor would be entering NDTV Imagine’s Kitni Mohabbat Hai in which he is playing the character of a young music sensation. We had a brief chat with Hiten about his role and about he being very choosy these days.

Q. Tell us about your role in your new show Kitni Mohabbat Hai?
A. It’s a role of a music sensation Karan Singh. I am playing the judge of a music competition. The character of Karan has a lot of attitude and he is a bindaas type of character.

Q. How is this role different from your other roles?
A. This role is quite different from my other roles as I will have a very different look in the show unlike my other shows, I will wear more of jeans and funky clothes rather than the normal formal clothes.

Q. Tell us about your experience and tuning with the new cast and crew?
A. I have only shot for two days so I can’t say much about it but yes it’s a young fresh team and I enjoyed working with them it was a good experience altogether. And as now I have no role till ten days so I when I will start of again then I can tell you much more about my tuning and experiences.

Q. Do you think the show will gain TRP because of your entry in the show?
A. I can’t say that but yes because of my role the viewers will get to see a lot of twists and turn in the show which will make the show interesting, so may be or may not be the TRP will increase. I have always got a good response from my fans for my roles and I hope this time also, I will get a positive response from them as they will discover a new Hiten altogether.

Q. You are hardly seen on television nowadays….why?
A. Yes, I am on a self imposed break from television because I do not like the roles offered to me. This character was different and interesting so I took up this one. And if something very interesting will come in my way then only I will do that role.

Q. Gauri and your on-screen jodi has always being appreciated, so would Gauri too be paired with you in this serial?
A. Yes, I know our jodi has been appreciated quite a lot onscreen but no, Gauri won’t be paired with me in this show or in any other show as she is on a break from television these days. She is focusing more on her painting these days.

Q. What is that one thing you would like to change in the television industry?
A. Who am I to bring any change? And in fact I think I don’t want any changes. I just want that we get to work on new concepts and get to work on new and good roles.

Q. How do you manage to keep yourself so fit?
A. I follow a strict diet regime and also workout daily. I avoid outside food and prefer having home cooked food.

Q. Any Bollywood plans?
A. Yes definitely I would love to do Bollywood but only if something interesting comes my way.

In a unique, first of its kind experience on television, Imagine presents a new reality show that traces the journey of a bride-to-be, from selecting her groom to the marriage ceremony, all captured on television. In a move that is true to her expressive personality, the bride-in-waiting Rakhi Sawant has chosen to search for her real life-partner on Imagine’s new reality show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar. Rakhi is taking matters of the heart into her own hands with a nationwide search for her perfect husband along with the support of the audiences. After exhaustive challenges and eliminations, Rakhi will take the saath-pheras with her husband in a grand ceremony that will be a fitting finale to this unique journey, and everyone is invited.

Rakhi Ka Swayamvar is a concept that has never seen before on television. The show promises to reveal a seldom-seen side of Rakhi and also provide an insightful glimpse of a roller coaster ride of emotions and tribulations. The ultimate selection of the groom will be made by Rakhi herself with the active help and participation of the audiences.

15 prospective grooms will be found from across the length and breadth of the country through an extensive all-media audition process. As a starting point, interested, prospective grooms will need to send in their profiles for selection. This will be followed by multi-city face to face meetings where these prospective grooms will be shortlisted.

Over the duration of the show, the prospective grooms will be brought together under one roof and put through a series of challenges that have been created keeping in mind the criteria identified by Rakhi herself. Each week, the grooms will be put through tasks that will test their personality, character, physical fitness, talent and also their compatibility with Rakhi. Additionally, Rakhi will be joined by a host of her celebrity friends for certain tasks, who will help her make her decision. In keeping with tradition, Rakhi will also visit the homes of the prospective grooms to get to know their families better. All through the series, viewers will help Rakhi decide, by voting for or against the prospective bridegrooms.

The final week will present the wedding celebrations in all its glory from the Mehendi to the Sangeet and culminating in a real-life wedding for Rakhi with the groom that she has chosen. All of these exciting events will be captured exclusively on Imagine. The show is being produced by SOL Productions Private Limited.

Speaking on the occasion Shailja Kejriwal, EVP Content, NDTV Imagine said “Reality has never been so real on TV before. Rakhi Ka Swayamvar is truly a unique concept that will capture all emotions and choices that Rakhi will experience in her quest for the right husband. This is our modern interpretation and adaptation of an age-old tradition of arranged marriages, where we are using the hugely popular platform of television to help Rakhi find her groom and fulfill her dreams. We’re very excited with the concept as it will also connect her with TV audiences across the country, the very same people that have made her so popular and successful today. ”

Rakhi Sawant added, “Every young woman dreams of a perfect marriage! There is a right time in your life to get married, to become a wife and a mother. I am a cultured Indian woman with good values and I have reached a stage where I need a companion with whom I can share my love, joys, sorrows and success with. For me that time is now… However I want to solemnize my marriage in the presence of all my fans who have been supportive of me throughout and what better way than getting married on national television? I am looking for a companion who is warm, affectionate, someone who can dance a little bit, who respects women for who they are and above all who is punctual. Even Sita had her Swayamvar…so why not me?”

Dill Mill Gaye is a closed chapter for me: Shilpa Anand

Shilpa Anand, the first Riddhima of Dill Mill Gaye, can’t understand why the producers of her old show are talking bad about her. Cinevistas Siddharth Malhotra was recently quoted as saying that they had approached Shilpa for returning to the Star One medical drama after Sukriti Khandpal had quit, but the deal did not work out for she was quoting an amount higher then even Smriti Irani or Akshay Kumar would ever ask! Shilpa retorts, “How can I even think of doing such a thing, its quite silly. I had quoted a figure, which they refused, end of story. Its weird, why can’t they move on. To be honest, I was not really interested in returning, for DMG is not only a closed chapter for me, but over the past year, the show has lost it sheen as well.”

Shilpa further wondered why did they call her back, for last year when she had quit the production house had gone to town saying she had attitude problems, “The real reason they returned to me was that they wanted somebody who was very easy going and cool. Siddharth himself called me and apologized for the wrong behavior and requested me to come back, but things did not work out,” she says.

After a year’s break Shilpa is all set to return, “I was out of the country for most of last year. “ She did not say whether it would be the small screen or big screen, ”I have something interesting lined up, just wait and watch. And in preparation she has even got a new look, which is completely different from Riddhima.

Dill Mill Gaye gets a new Dr. Riddhima in the charming Jennifer Winget

Star One’s Dill Mill Gayye gets a new Dr. Riddhima in the charming Jennifer Winget in which the babe would again be pairing opposite Karan Grover after Kasauti Zindagi Kii. Let’s see what the actress has to say about her new assignment and many more.

Q. What new shades have you planned to give to the character of Riddhima, you would be portraying in Dill Mill Gayye?
A. I have just started working on this character and I think since this character has been loved and appreciated by everybody so much, there is no requirement of giving it new shades. The character of Riddhima is so sweet and lovable that nothing needs to be changed or nothing new needs to be added. I am just going to try my best to keep the essence of the character and hopefully will try to make it more lovable.

Q. The character of Riddhima is changing for the third time now, so what is the reason behind that?
A. I don’t know the reason, all I know is for me it is a new show and new beginning and I don’t know why it’s being changed for the third time and I would not want to get into it.

Q. Your acting is surely going to be compared with Sukriti Khandpal. Does this worry you?
A. No, it does not worry me. I give respect to both the actresses who played Riddhima before. They have done a fantastic job and people have really appreciated them for that and I just hope to continue that.

Q. You are working with Karan Singh Grover for the second time after Kasauti Zindagi Kii, Please share you off and on-screen chemistry with him?
A. It was a pleasure to work with him as we have always been very good friends since Kasuati. And it is actually exciting to work with him again. And when I shot with him the first day we just picked up from where we left.

Q. Is recession affecting you life in anyways and what advice would you like to give to our readers about dealing with the recession?
A. Well it’s not really affecting me in any ways. But I think everybody has been hit by it so wise thing to do is to take care of what you have and invest wisely, hold on to the investment that you have got and just keep working. That’s the best thing to now.

Q. Given a chance, what would be that one thing, which you would like to change in the television industry?
A. I think as earlier we used to have seasons of some sitcoms. Like in some foreign serials also we have seasons. I would want someone to try out with.

Q. Any interesting incident, you remember happening on the sets of DMG?
A. Today it was just my third day so as of now nothing interesting incident has yet happened. And the only interesting thing is that I am working with Karan again and we are really happy working together. And for more interesting stories you will have to wait because I have just started the show.

Q. Which team would you be cheering in this IPL?
A. Knight Riders would definitely be on my priority list and I will cheer for it because I think they have a very good team and they have all the right qualities to be appreciated.

Q. Tell us something about your future projects. With many tele-stars making big in Bollywood, do you too have plans to step into the world of Bollywood?
A. Right now I am only doing and concentrating on this show. If you talk about other future plans, I think I don’t plan my future and I believe in living in present. Yes, why not even I would like be in Bollywood but only if something interesting comes my way.

Rakhi Sawant on her marriage plans

Rakhi Sawant get’s up front and personal regarding her marriage on NDTV Imagine’s Rakhi Ka Swayamvar.

Why marriage?
I want to settle down. I have worked a lot, made good money. Now I am feeling lonely. And like all Indian woman, I too want to have a loving husband, caring in-laws and God willing, later kids as well. I also feel the need to come home to somebody after a hard day at work.

Unlike popular perception, I am quite a traditional girl at heart, I want to do my husband’s seva. I will also touch my mother in law’s feet as the way to a man’s heart does lie through his mother.

Will you work post marriage?
Yes I hope to work if I get time from my domestic responsibilities Dance is my passion and I would not want to leave that. Everything is possible, if I get a broad minded husband.

But sometime back on Karan Johar’s show, you had said that you will not marry?
Agreed I had said that, but then things do change. Most girls in the industry will not want to get married, until they are established.

What’s your personal take on marriage?
Marriage is a holy institution, a sacred commitment. It’s quite sad that these days’ people walk in and out of marriage in a jiffy. I believe in the age old concept of Jeena Marne Ke Kasme.

Describe your ideal dhula?
He should be smart, fit, confident, honest, caring and above all should respect woman. I will not change my lifestyle for him. I don’t go for caste, language or religion. Hence he can be a Hindu, Christian Muslim or anybody. I am open for even a good NRI groom.

Should he be rich?
He should be capable enough to take care of me. My husband should earn at least Rs 5000 a month, so he can be rickshaw driver as well. Alternatively a doctor, engineer or even actor will also do.

Would you want a ghar jamai?
No I want to move to in laws place.

Would you slap your husband like the way u clipped ex beau Abhishek?
Everybody makes mistakes and so did I in choosing him. But I am hopeful that it will not happen again and I also expect my maika NDTV Imagine to help me zero on Mr. right.

Can we expect season 2, where we will cover your divorce?
Please would you wish the same for your sister or daughter? I expect your blessing’s to have a long and blissful martial life.

There are supposed to be 15 prospective contestants, but what will happen if you like somebody quite early?
No I will check all properly. I will test ride them all.

Why marriage on TV?
I want to do things differently. I did not want to go through the normal routine of a guy coming to see me over tea and try to judge me in a short while. On my show, I will get time to properly understand each guy and then only make an informed choice. I owe my name and fame to television; hence I want to invite the entire media to cover my wedding. I am not like some celebrities who don’t even allow the media into their gates. They forget that its public who makes them who they are.

Why a Swayamvar?
It shows that woman have arrived and we can now choose our man. After Sita’s Swayamvar mine will be next, even if I don’t get Ram, I will surely get Shyam.

Among the celeb who would you to get married to?
Rahul Gandhi is a good bet. Hope he sees me today as I look very beautiful in the bride’s outfit . Please also mention that I would love to get hooked to a cricketer.

How should your guy propose to you?
He should come straight like Salman Khan, be open like Aamir Khan and kiss my hand like Shahrukh Khan.

You like to create publicity?
Why blame only me? what about Akshay Kumar, who gets his trouser’s unzipped by his wife in public. Most other reality shows have artificial drama, but I am truthful and always speak from my heart.

Have you taken any money from the channel?
No not a pie. Why should I? This was my concept and they have graciously agreed to host it, what more can I ask for?

But they will use you for publicity?
Don’t NEWS channels do the same, when they air my sound bytes and visuals.

What are your honey moon plans?
After marriage I would like to go to Switzerland or New Zealand.

Do you have your folk’s blessing?
My mother has no idea about this plan. But I feel that this is my life and I deserve the right to choose my own life partner. I am hopeful of winning their blessings though.

What will your husband get in dahej?
You see, I am already dressed in gold. He will get India’s number 1 item girl as his beloved. I also promise him love and honesty.

How will other girl’s benefit from your marriage?
Possibly other single girl’s may get inspired by my action and also hold similar swayamvars in their respective cities and towns. -

Sharmila Tagore reaches Cannes

Classic Indian actress Sharmila Tagore, the veteran of many films has been named as one of the members of the international jury of the Cannes Film Festival.

So after Arundhati Roy, Aishwarya Rai and Nandita Das, Sharmila will be the next Indian to serve on the Cannes jury in recent years.

But India’s no-show in the Festival’s official sections continues since 2002.

Maybe an Indian judge will make it up for that deficit again.

Her kids Saif Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan have reasons to cheer up too as even though they aren’t going there, their mother is

The actress who currently heads the Central Board of Film Certification is the grand-daughter of poet Rabindranath Tagore. She became an actress in 1959 when Satyajit Ray cast her as Apu’s ill fated bride in ‘Apur Sansar’ (The World of Apu) while she was still a teenager.

She got commercial success in the 70s with ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’, ‘Waqt’, ‘Anupama’, ‘An Evening in Paris’ and ‘Aradhana’ etc.

She was the first Indian actress to appear in a bikini on-screen in ‘An Evening in Paris’ which was considered a daring move in the industry at that time.

She joins the likes of French actress, Isabelle Huppert who heads this year’s festival jury as well as Asia Argento (Italy), Nuri Bilge Ceylan (Turkey), Lee Chang-Dong (South Korea), James Gray (US), Hanif Kureishi (UK), Shu Qi (Taiwan) and Robin Wright Penn (US).

Lots of compliments are following for the most powerful actress of the country Kareena Kapoor. Recent to add to this list is director Raju Hirani who is shooting with Kareena for his forthcoming film three idiots.

Kareena in an emotional scene which Kareena had to shoot, Kareena performed so well that it left director Raju Hirani speechless. Raju Hirani was so impressed with Kareena’s performance in 3 idiots and specially that for an emotional scene that he and the whole unit clapped and gave a standing ovation for Kareena after the scene.

Kareena is the number one on the power list and the best actress in the country and she deserves everything which comes her way, as she is been working very hard and putting in a lot of efforts and has come a long way from where she started. Kareena is truly a czarina of bollywood.

The latest salvo against Adnan Sami is an FIR for allegedly torturing his wife. It has the singer shocked almost beyond words.

Says Adnan, “My wife Sabah has also named my poor mother and father in the FIR. How can my poor father who lies in a coma and can’t even raise a finger do violence to any person? Can’t we have a bit of basic logic and decency here? That’s all I am looking for.”

The support and love Adnan has received from the industry has overwhelmed him. The Table maestro Zakir Husain has kept an all-light Holy prayer for Adnan’s father’s health. “My guru Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma visited my father in the hospital. My day was made,” says the harassed singer emotionally.

“It’s such love that has kept me going through my most trying times. Otherwise all the false and damning charges and all attempts to finish me off would’ve destroyed me by now. I’m grateful to the industry for the support.”
