Sharad – Kirti to celebrate their anniversary

Television’s most popular jodi Sharad-Kirti is celebrating their 4th anniversary today. Kirti is busy shooting for Chhoti Bahu whereas Sharad is planning things to make this special day a memorable one for his loving wife.

Preparing to surprise his better half, Sharad could only divulge, “We are celebrating our anniversary with few close friends”. He regards Kirti as his most precious gift that he has ever received. So what is he planning to gift her? “That’s a surprise” he quips. We know Sharad, there is no feeling more comforting and consoling than knowing you are right next to the one you love.

The most wonderful of all things in life is to discover a person with whom one’s relationship can grow deep and beautiful. Sharad discovered his lady love on the sets of ‘Sindoor tere naam ka’ and there on we all have witnessed their growth. He believes that his unconditional love for her and in turn the immense love that he receives from her have been strengthening their bond. They have been married for quite a long time but Sharad fails to discover anything new about his better half. He reasons, “She is the same person who I met four years ago”.

As it is rightly said ‘Inner progressiveness of love between the two cannot be found merely by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it’. But this progress can be attained by the little gesture that one of the two could show “Kirti is more expressive about her love in this relationship” Sharad admits.

In Indian context marriage is about all about adjustment but Sharad-Kirti look at it differently, “We have accepted each other the way we are”. Sharad shyly disclosed the plan to get a new member in the family “Talks are going on” he reticently answers.

Kranti Redkar to play first wife of Ratan Singh in Chittod Ki Rani Padmini Ka Johur

The new historic show on Sony, Chittod Ki Rani Padmini Ka Johur is all set for a high point. Not many people knew that Raja Ratan Singh had two wives, Padmini and Nagmati. Kranti Redkar will be playing his first wife.

“I essay the character of Nagmati who is the first wife of Ratan Singh. She is a strong headed person and very ambitious,” states Kranti.

Elaborating more on her role, the actress quips, “My role will see some grey shades. She is negative but it has been presented in a different way. I being a queen have some kind of sophistication like the way I dress, walks, and talks and behave. So it’s quite different from what I have played in the past.” Kranti was last seen in Simply Sapne playing a negative role.

How will be your rapport with Padmini in the show? “Of course there will be confrontation with Padmini as she is very beautiful and second wife of my husband. I am a woman who doesn’t like her husband to be shared. The reason is that I am very possessive about him,” she adds further.

Kranti Redkar has been a theatre and Marathi movie actress. “I have done some 14 movies in three years and Jatra was my first film. I had been doing theatres along side. Now I am trying my luck in main stream Hindi television too. I hope audience do like me and appreciate me,” she concludes.

Let’s see if Kranti is able to bring a new kranti on small screen?

How do you feel?
On top of the world. I want to thank God and my parents. I am where I am only due Remo Sir, He was the best thing that could have happened to me.

What were the thoughts going on in your mind in the final moments before your name was announced?
I just told God that I thank you for what you have given me.

Which was your toughest dance step?
All were equally tough but the fire step could have turned into a disaster I might have lost my eyesight. You know how things go wrong despite all precautions.

According to you which was your best dance?
My best is yet to come. What you saw in DID were only glimpses of what I can do. Having said I like my Tu Hi Rai number and Chow dance.

Which is your particular fort, then?
I really don’t know what my forte is, sometimes mentors would say you rock in Salsa and at other time they exclaimed that you excel in Latin. All I can say is that I want to be choreographer’s dream. But I want to say that that I have not yet scratched the surface. As far learning is concerned I will keep up picking new things till I die.

Were you always a dancer?
My mom says I would shake to numbers even in the pram. I gave my first performance when I was 2 at a family occasion dancing to Ek Do Teen.

You come from Bangalore, a region not very popular with Hindi channel, yet you won?
If you remember I never begged for votes. I just asked for blessings. I only believe in hard work. I did not cry on stage giving somebody a chance to say that I was garnering sympathy votes. I want to compete and win fair and square.

50 lac prize booty is a big amount?
I honesty have not thought about that. Right from day one I only concentrated on my dance Like Arjun my aim was only at being the best dancer. I have really worked hard. I have given my blood and sweat for this purpose. I even landed in hospital but was back on stage as soon as I discharged. My only aim was to get better with every passing round.

What next?
I am open to all kinds of offers.

Most reality winners disappear after a few months?
See DID have given me a platform and now it’s up to me to prove myself.

Best Bollywood dancer?
Undoubtedly, Hrithik Roshan.

Had you not won who do you think deserved?
Nobody but Salman for I was the best.

Baichung Bhutia Plays Football On Dance Floor Wins Jhalak Dikhla ja 3

The footballer Baichung Bhutia has been declared as a winner of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, season 3. The sportsman turned dancer is on cloud nine as he chit chats with us about his journey and why no more reality shows for him.

How does it feel to become the first male to win Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa?
Definitely it feels good and I’m very happy. Being a complete non dancer I did not dream of reaching so far and getting crowned as a winner. I am thankful to everyone who supported me.

You have won the price money of 40 lakhs. What are you going to do with it?
As I have said that I would be donating 50% amount to the charity all over. Other half I have shared with my chorographer Sonia. I will be also donating 1.5 lakhs rupees to the areas hit by the cyclone Aaela.

How has been your journey in Jhalak?
It’s been wonderful and especially with Sonia. She is the best chorographer in the world and deserved the trophy as a winner. She has taken care of everything from steps to the concepts etc. I would like to say that it’s the jhalak of Sonia and not me.

Which has been the most memorable moment in the show?
I think the tapori dance was the most memorable one. I enjoyed every movement as that was something new for me. Judges were also happy with our performances and gave us full marks for it.

Are there any chances to see you more on reality shows?
No more reality shows for me unless they give me the price of 50 million dollars (grins). I took up Jhalak just for the experience and now I am done with it. I have already made it clear that I wouldn’t be dancing in corporate parties and wedding.

What is next for you?
Thank god that Jhalak is over as I had been dying to get back to football and now will concentrate on that. The season is starting in next month.

Ranbir Kapoor Working On A New Project

Ranbir Kapoor is signing some plum projects, Rishi Kapoor is enjoying his new innings in front of the camera while Neetu Kapoor too is eyeing a big screen comeback. A happy situation indeed for Kapoors who come with decades of experience in movie making and are expected to be the torch bearers of Bollywood for many more decades to come.

In a candid conversation, the lady of the house - Neetu Kapoor - divulges that the family has been sharing a healthy interaction over the years when it comes to Bollywood since it has been a part of their blood for generations.

“We do talk about movies most of the time and over the years whenever a film has released, regardless of which actor stars in it, we have spoken about it”, she reveals, “It could have been a dining table conversation where we would have collectively critiqued a film. It could be positive or constructive talk about a film and along with Ranbir we have got into discussions around the way a particular scene unfolds or an actor performs.”

Talking about looking at a film closely, which performances of Rishi Kapoor would she rate the highest over the years?

“‘Chandni’ and ‘Damini’”, prompt comes the reply, “He has been very good in dozens of films over last 40 odd years but from the recent lot of his films, these two films are closest to my heart. These were difficult roles, especially ‘Damini’ where had such a huge predicament to face. And he played this role to perfection.”

How about her own comeback in Bollywood? Years after her last big film ‘Yaarana’ [1981] with Amitabh Bachchan, she would now be seen in ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ along with Rishi Kapoor. What made her take the plunge?

“Frankly, there were offers over the years but we all were so busy in our things”, she smiles, “Then my daughter Riddhima got married while Ranbir too began his acting career. This is when this exciting film ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ came up and I was game for the comeback. The film is a meaningful light hearted entertainer where Rishiji plays a Mathematics teacher while I play his wife and a mother of two grown up kids.”

Directed by Habib Faisal (who makes his debut with the film), ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ would be releasing towards the latter half of 2009.

Rajesh Khanna To Get A life Time Achivement Award At IIFA 2009

Often termed as the first superstar of Hindi cinema, actor turned politician Rajesh Khanna will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Videocon IIFA Weekend, which will be held at The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel from June 11 to 13, 2009 in Macau. Earlier Indian cinema’s living legends such as Mumtaz and Dharmendra have been the recipients of this prestigious Award.

Each year, IIFA 2009 honours a member of the Indian Film Fraternity with the Lifetime Achievement Award who has made innumerable contributions to Indian cinema, our sources reveal, keeping this in mind, the IIFA Advisory Board and the IIFA Management have zeroed down on Rajesh Khanna’s name for the tenth IIFA to be held at Macao.

Rajesh Khanna’s rise to stardom is considered phenomenal. One can recollect, from 1969 to 1972, the Rajesh Khanna phenomenon swept Indian cinema off its feet and the hysteria he generated was unlike anything seen before! Rajesh Khanna made his Bollywood debut with the 1966 film Aakhri Khat, followed by Raaz and Baharon Ke Sapne. But his act in films like Aurat, Khamoshi and Aradhana cemented his status as the new super talent par excellence in the Indian film industry. In 1983, Rajesh Khanna displayed a spectacular performance with his role in Avtaar. After establishing his mega star status, blockbuster films followed one after another, and women all over the country swooned over him and the men aped him.

Kaka as he is popularly known as, is still adored and fondly remembered by the masses and songs from his popular films are still loved. The previous recipients of this award were Lata Mangeshkar (2000), Waheeda Rehman (2001), Yash Chopra (2002), Dev Anand (2003), Yash Johar (2004), V.K. Murthy (2005), Asha Parekh (2006), Dharmendra (2007) and Mumtaz (2008).

John Abraham Foot Broken

John Abraham seems to be running through a rough patch. The most recent mishap, and perhaps the most major of them all happened on Saturday when during shooting, John fractured his foot.

It happened while shooting a day-long cricket match for David Dhawan’s Hook Ya Crook.

Says a close friend of John, “The hard ball shot straight through the air and bang into John’s right foot and he heard a distinct crack. John knew something had gone awfully wrong in his foot. But he continued shooting throughout the day because he didn’t want to disrupt David’s schedule which required special permission for outdoor shooting.”

It was only after the day’s shooting that John, by then cringing in pain, he sat down to examine the damage.

“The foot had swollen to twice its normal size. It wasn’t just a pulled muscle or a torn ligament as John had hoped. It was a full-blown fracture. And by playing cricket on the injured foot John made it worse,” says the friend.

After pack-up John walked to his car, drove off to the doctor who finally told John what he suspected the whole day.

Verdict passed, John was rushed to the hospital in acute pain. Now his foot is in a cast for a month.

Fortunately for the actor there’s no shooting to be completed. The next one month is devoted to acting workshops for Abbas Tyrewala which John can somehow limp through.

But all his friends and family agree the last week has been tough on John.

“He was down with a severe viral fever, followed by the whole unsavoury link-up with Katrina Kaif. Then John lost a favourite Uncle. And now his foot is fractured. Hopefully this is the climax of his crises,” says the friend.

Says John, “I really wouldn’t like to talk about it. But yes, I’m in a lot of pain. Fortunately no film is going to get affected.”

Bipasha Basu got to know about John’s injury on Sunday morning. John had sent her on an sms about his condition on Saturday night. But she had already gone to sleep. Now she’s expected to rush back as soon as possible.

“It’s sad. But John was foolish to keep on playing when his foot was hurt instead of getting it checked.”

Aston Kutcher And britney Giving Competition To Gul Panag

With Bollywood being on a standstill and release of any new film seemingly a distant dream, celebrities are happy to talk about the plethora of social networking sites that are trying to make their presence felt in the world of internet.

A few days back there was news around Mallika Sherawat looking at using TWITTER as a medium to interact with her fans and promote her upcoming film HISSSS. However, the fact is that much before Mallika possibly logs in for the first time on the website, Gul Panag has already explored it to the hilt and is in a position to impart complete ‘gyaan’ about TWITTER.

“It has been quite a while actually since I got hooked on to TWITTER. While FACEBOOK has been popular for around a couple of years now, TWITTER is the newest tool for social networking. I am aware about so many big guns from the world of entertainment, art and even politics who are a regular there”, says Gul who is easily one of the most internet savvy women that one has come across from the world of Bollywood.

Getting all excited about the tool and commenting like a pro, Gul begins explaining the benefits of the tool. “See, first and foremost it is quite niche since not anyone and everyone is expected to get an account built there. It is visited only by professionals and not anyone random out there. This makes it further exclusive.”

TWITTER enables its users to send and read other users’ updates known as tweets which are displayed on the user’s profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as followers). Amongst Bollywood celebrities, Gul Panag has quite a few followers to her name.

She faces tough competition though from the likes of British comedian Stephen Fry, who is well known for being the celebrity with a large number of followers. However, the most followed celebrity today is Ashton Kutcher who is the first Twitter user to reach the 1 million follower mark. While CNN “Breaking News’” account comes next, singer Britney Spears finds herself in the third place.

“Well, it’s a good company to be in. Yes, it’s a long way to go but I am sure I will make it there in time to come”, smiles Gul before signing off.

Aamir Khan to go back to work after two months of holiday

Aamir Khan is now back to work after a two months long holiday break. Though his actual shoot begins from June 15th for 3 Idiots, he will be busy with some film related work from Monday June 1st.

Announcing his come back through his blog, Aamir states that in the vacation he played quiet a few board games such as Settlers Of Catan, Age Of Empires, Carrcassonne and Scotland Yard. These are basically all group games needing 4 to 6 players.

Disturbed by the recent attacks on Indian students studying in Australia, Aamir has condemned these attacks stating, “Most disturbing to hear about racist attacks on Indians living in Australia. Quite a shame. While this doesn’t mean that all Australians are racists, the frequency and seriousness of such attacks, I think, calls for an extra ordinary reaction from the Australian authorities. And while we want action to be taken by authorities in Australia, equally we should remember all the various crimes against foreigners who visit India. Let us hope and pray that Shravan recovers soon.”

Kareena Kapoor: The Hottest Style Icon

A lot of your personality is revealed with the kind of footwear that you wear. No wonder Kareena Kapoor is very particular about those that don her feet. A close pal of Kareena said, “Kareena is particular about her footwear. It’s only YSL or Christian Louboutin for her. The slippers that she wears at home are from Hermes.” Kareena bought six pairs of slippers of same style from Hermes recently. “Kareena likes to have same slippers of different colours,” said the friend.

The friend adds, “When it comes to casuals Kareena prefers jeans and T-shirts while it is formal wear for parties. Kareena prefers Roberto Cavalli and Valentino designs for her western wear. Though she loves Valentino trousers, jackets, sweaters and knits, Kareena feels that when it comes to the perfect fit, Cavalli is best. But as far as Indian designers are concerned it’s Manish Malhotra for her,” said the source.

Big Title trouble for Dekh Bhai Dekh

Popular TV series Dekh Bhai Dekh maker Anand Mahendroo, who was about to begin shooting for the film version of Dekh Bhai Dekh, is now left fuming over the release of Rahat Kazmi’s black comedy thriller by the same title.

Mahendroo had registered the title a year ago but claims that some mischief has taken place and it has landed with Rahat Kazmi who is making a comedy starring stars such as Gracy Singh, Manish Koirala’s brother Siddharth, Vijay Raaz and Raghuveer Yadav. This film is about to release in mid- June. Mahendroo plans to begin the shoot of his film too around that time but he is not at all happy with the title dilemma. He states that his Dekh Bhai Dekh is synonymous with Shekhar Suman and Farida Jalal and any another name for his film will have no value to it. That is the reason why he is going to fight over it.

However, Mahendroo hasn’t spoken to Rahat yet but some trade veterans are looking into the matter for him as of now. It is learnt that if Rahat goes on to release his film next month, Mahendroo will have to part with the title but at the same time, Mahendroo is planning legal action against him.

A calm and composed Rahat on the other hand claims that he had registered the title a year ago with the association and I has certification for the same. He also claims to have ample proof over it and is hopeful of releasing his film next month.

VJ Juhi Says no To Tobbaco

If you say “I don’t consume tobacco”, you are wrong. Even though we do not smoke we all are affected by the others who smoke. Hence, we all are equally responsible to propagate total eradication of smoking on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day on May 31st.

The health effects of second hand smoking are as serious as smoking itself. “Once I was with my friends and we were discussing something in a room. Four of them were smoking. It was very claustrophobic for me”, actress Manini De recalls her experience as passive smoker. For all you young guys out there who believe smoking is style statement, VJ Juhi who is no less combination of style and modernity is a non smoker, “It’s really uncomfortable to be among people who smoke. When in a club there are many guys smoking together it start hurting your eyes” she shares.

All my friends who smoke think while you take a puff, what cigarette smoking has given you, nothing but less healthy life. Party animal Amit verma of Hotel Kingston fame confesses, “I do smoke but I want to get rid of it completely. When I don’t have to do anything in parties I smoke, that reaps nothing but makes me lethargic and kills the hunger. In fact I hate the fact that it not only affects me but also my loved one’s who are around”. Gaurav Gera a.k.a Nandu-Bandu admits, “I started smoking with my friends when I was 19 but now I want to get rid of it. My mom also keeps complaining about it. It’s not healthy at all”. Once upon a time Narayani Shastri did get into the habit of smoking but now she has aversion to the smell of it, “I use to smoke so I can understand why people do it but now I keep away from smoking and smokers. I stopped it on my own when I realized that it’s not good for health”.

Will power and one’s inner conscience is above everything but Ratan Rajput a.k.a Lalee from agle janam mohe bitiya hi kijo, persuaded her guruji Surendra Sharma and made him to quit smoking, “Me and my guruji’s daughter were constantly after him. I use to keep check on him on the sets and his daughter kept watch on him at home and finally we succeeded in our mission. It feels great to gift him a good health”.

When whole world is observing 31st may as no tobacco day Ratan is concerned about passive smokers and urges to all who smoke in public “jeeyo aur jeene do (live and let live)”. Amit makes an appeal, “If there is one particular day for no tobacco take it seriously and make it the day when you actually quit smoking”. Narayani who has emerged triumphant insists, “DON’T SMOKE, right now you won’t but after 15 years you will realize how dangerous it is”. Manini De evokes the importance of life, “Marna to sabko hi hai lekin aise kyun maro yaar (everyone has to die but why like this)”.

Rahul Khanna turns director

With his film career never really taking off, Rahul Khanna, the 37 year old son of yesteryears actor Vinod Khanna had left for the US to do some theatre work which he preferred. But our sources claim that he is coming back to Mumbai to work on his directorial debut venture which most probably will be produced by his father Vinod Khanna and brother Akshaye Khanna.
